runrFIT

by Running Science

Welcome to runrFIT, our group-based coaching for all levels of runners – from those lacing up their sneakers for the first time to seasoned marathoners chasing a PB. Our inclusive program supports you to improve your endurance, speed, strength and in turn achieve results when racing. Whether it’s a local ParkRun or longer distances such as a half or full marathon, we help you hit your goals and become part of the community while doing it.

Who coaches the running sessions?

Our coaches are all accredited by Athletics Australia and avid runners themselves.

Who can join runrFIT?

Our sessions are created to suit everyone from dedicated back-of-the-packers to experienced marathon and ultra-runners.

Where do sessions take place?

We train on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Starting at 5:45, these sessions last an hour, so they finish in time for school runs and work. Locations are based around Callan Park, King George Oval and the Bay Run.

One-on-one coaching is available on-demand from our team of recreational running coaches – contact us for more information.

What’s the Friday shop run?

Friday morning is the much-loved community ‘shop run’, so named because it starts and finishes at the (old) shop and takes in a leisurely social lap of the wonderful Bay Run which is right on our doorstep.

The original shop site at 186 Victoria Road is used as the starting point every Friday, partly for nostalgia reasons and partly due to health and safety as it’s closer to the Bay and doesn’t require the crossing of Victoria Road which is a main thoroughfare in and out of the city.

All paces are welcome and catered for and it’s a great opportunity to have a good old chinwag and a laugh with the best community run group in Sydney. It’s definitely the best way to kick off the weekend. New runners are always welcome and long standing friendships have been created at the shop run.

The shop run starts at 6am with a meeting time 5 minutes before and we go every week of the year – rain or shine! Only dangerous weather events, bush fires and/or pandemics will stop us from heading out.

Once you’ve completed three shop runs you will be inducted into the ‘Socks of Fame’ and presented with a pair of luxurious Running Science Steigen socks.

Come join us one Friday – you won’t regret it!

How much does it cost for a training session?

We’ve made the decision to make runrFIT completely free for our community. We want to give back to the people who’ve supported us for the last ten plus years and continue to see friendships being created as we run together. You just can’t put a price on that.
